. . .

Lebano
Beirut

This was the first country with a strong Muslim presence that I’d ever seen.
Everything grows fast and has an Occidental influence. I was only there for a short period. Sadly, what I found in a majority were men who didn’t respect women. The differences between Europe and this country are obvious.
I experienced a hearty cuisine and also witnessed a great faith in Christianity religion.

I keep a wonderful memory of the panoramas that I’ve seen there; snow-capped mountains and a blue sea, buildings still affected by the war that just ended. Lebanon had a strange atmosphere. Not freedom, unfortunately.

Turkey, smile, if I think about it

Turkey

Istanbul
Ankara

These people, whom I was told later are known as the people of courtesy, definitely surprised me with their big smiles and mutual care. Turkey is an extremely hospitable country. And the food! So many different kinds, from cakes to bread,  everything so delicious. As I said, a very pleasant surprise.

Churches and Mosques were my destinations.

Plastic City

Cina
Shanghai

I have to say that the impression you get from a country is affected by your personal feeling in that period of your life.

- Wonderful parks in this noisy city ,  an oasis of pleasure and My Loved Nature

After India, I decided to go in China, Shanghai; the people, the lifestyle, the costumes, the high building, the smell and the atmosphere reminded me that I was far from my country.

Shanghai Jade's Temple

I still remember the empty eyes that I felt from them, I didn’t feel any passion.
Shanghai is the largest city by population of China and the largest city by population in the world. The city that never sleeps, so many people, always. Although even during the nighttime, I never felt frightened or insecure, it felt like a really safe city.
China is timeless, people are always running. This city is too busy for me!

Unfortunately, I didn’t see so many places there, I need to go back. I would like to see the real China, the China from the books with a big tradition, with the costumes and the unusual homes.

This is another chapter that I need to catch again.

India

Back in Milan, the summer had almost started and my agency called me, telling me I’d been selected to go in India. After a while, just a while of hesitancy, my luggage and passport were ready and I was on the plane to an unknown destination.

India

Agra
New Delhi
Mumbai
Bangalore

Hours of travelling, exhaustion, confusion… Who are these people? Where are they going?
Thousands of questions, my eyes wide open but unable to understand.

After landing, I took my bags and tried to understand. I got out of the airport of Delhi but the impact was too strong, the scorching heat, the strong and annoying smell; it was all too much for me.

Nothing was as I thought. I’d never seen anything like this place. Every day something strange happened, things you don’t even see in a movie. The contrast between wealth and poverty was hallucinating. I cried for a while. I stopped just because I realized that I couldn’t change anything, it was to big for me. I couldn’t understand how that was possible, how the people could accept living in such conditions. It seemed inhuman to my eyes and soul.

As I said, everyday brought something unusual, absurd, from a cow walking in the street, kids in the street selling the cobs, to an entire family sleeping under the bridge.

India felt strong in tradition; beautiful ladies wore wonderful saris, some of them with hair that had never been cut.

You can feel in the air and see in the clothes and decorations of the body that religion is a standard practice. India felt like another world, it was like time was firm and didn’t want to go ahead.
Still, wonderful temples, spicy food, and a poor population with a big heart made me love this place.
I have a beautiful memory of this big and strong country, a chapter that I have to catch again; there are too many thing to see so many things that I need to learn.

All in all, I kept one big thing from this experience: never before had I felt so grateful for what I had and have now in my life.
